Mirae Asset Securities customers have reaped over 3.5 trillion won (US$2.61 billion) in capital gains from their overseas stock investments over the past three years. Excluding confirmed capital gains, the unrealized profits from the top 10 holdings of these customers also exceed 3 trillion won.

Mirae Asset Securities announced on Sept. 21 that it had calculated the cumulative capital gains from customers’ overseas stock sales from 2021 to the present year, resulting in a total of 3.58 trillion won: 1.29 trillion won in 2021, 1.83 trillion won in 2022, and 463.7 billion won this year. The per capita capital gains approach 80 million won. It’s worth noting that capital gains are tallied for the tax year, concerning the previous year’s figures related to capital gains tax.

Mirae Asset Securities has emphasized asset allocation for global blue-chip stocks as a strategy to enhance customer investment returns. It has also continued its efforts to provide investment information utilizing artificial intelligence in line with improvements in the global stock investment environment.

As of August this year, the trading patterns of domestic investors in foreign stocks revealed a significant allocation to Leveraged Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) listed on the U.S. stock market. However, it is challenging to find these ETFs among the top holdings of Mirae Asset Securities’ customers. The top 5 holdings among Mirae Asset Securities’ customers in foreign stocks include companies such as Tesla, Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, and Alphabet.

When looking at the performance of Mirae Asset Securities’ profit competition “I am a Master,” it is evident that the average customer return rate this year stood at 25.8 percent as of the end of August, significantly outperforming the KOSPI index’s return rate for the same period at 14.3 percent. Particularly, the top 5 percent achieved a return rate of 76.46 percent, and it was noted that these investors allocated 62 percent of their total portfolio to foreign stocks.

Mirae Asset Securities stated, “In May of last year, we introduced the U.S. Stock Total View Service through our collaboration with NASDAQ. While traditional domestic securities firms provided only one bid and one ask quantity when trading U.S. stocks, we have significantly improved the global stock investment environment by providing 20 bids and quantities, similar to domestic stocks.”
