Some of my students asked me the question “Should I pick up Hanja (한자 / Chinese characters)?” I always say that you don’t have to. I mean you don’t need to memorize the Chinese characters themselves.

 

Instead, I always recommend that my students pick up just the meaning of Hanja. I think it is the best way Korean learners can build up the vocabulary. If you follow the process described below, you can memorize the words more quickly and effectively. Moreover, I’m pretty sure that you can guess the meaning of the new words.
