Hanwha Systems Loads Combat Management System on Philippines’ Top-of-the-line Frigate
Philippine’s most advanced frigate Jose Rizal
Hanwha Systems announced on May 21 that it successfully mounted a combat management system (CMS) on the Philippines’ most advanced frigate Jose Rizal, which departed on May 18.
The escort ship is a 2,600-ton class frigate of the Philippine Navy, built by Hyundai Heavy Industries. It was loaded with the FFX Batch-II Combat System developed by Hanwha Systems.
The battle system is the brain of a ship that plays a key role in determining the outcome of a sea battle. It is a weapon system for the integrated operation of various sensors, weapons, and other communication and command systems on a battle ship. Hanwha Systems is currently developing a battle system for the next escort FFX-III. It is the only Korean company that possesses the ability to develop combat systems.
“We have been supplying combat systems to over 80 battleships, including the Korean Navy’s watercraft and submarines, over the past 40 years. We develop and mass-produce world-class advanced combat systems,” a Hanwha Systems official said. “We are looking forward to expanding system exports to countries in Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Middle East down the road.”
