NNFC Working on Convergence-based IVD Systems against Infectious Diseases
The National NanoFab Center (NNFC) announced on June 3 that it has launched an in-vitro diagnostic system advancement project and a total of 9,367 million won would be invested in the project until 2022. The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute and the Daejeon Technopark participate in the project led by the NNFC.
The in-vitro diagnostic equipment industry is a convergence industry in which reagents, sensors, devices, telecommunications and so on need to be combined and advanced convergence infrastructure and technology are required.
The purposes of the project include platform establishment for ICT convergence-based in-vitro diagnostic product development, technical support for companies in the industry, engineer training and facilitation of clinical trials and prototype performance evaluation. The outcomes of the project are expected to contribute to the treatment of not only COVID-19 and influenza but also cardiovascular diseases, cancers, diabetes and dementia based on precise remote biosignal analysis.
